To promote economic and trade cooperation and foster friendly exchanges between China and Africa, CNMC invested in and established the Zambia-China Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone (ZCCZ) in 2007. It is the first overseas economic and trade cooperation zone set up by a Chinese company in Africa, as well as Zambia's first multi-functional economic zone. The zone includes two parks—Chambishi and Lusaka—covering a total area of 17.19 square kilometers. It provides one-stop services for both Chinese and international investors and has attracted 90 enterprises so far. Companies within the zone have cumulatively invested $2.7 billion, generated $29.5 billion in revenue, paid $1.387 billion in taxes, and created nearly 10,000 local jobs. The zone aims to become "the best investor in Africa."
